Prizes up the WALL!

More from the MITK vault ...

Summer cleaning is going to treat off of you so well.

Jeeto was so fun to review because it's such an eclectic site. Something for everyone as one would say. I have a picture up for grabs. If there is a little boy in your life that loves trucks and tractors this is perfect for him. Well a girl would love it, too!

Same thing as the last post ... I'm losing points for creativity ...

Bonding with Molly for every occasion

There is something to be said for being original.

The ability to see an object and make it your own, to make it an original, is a gift so few of us enjoy.

For Molly Bond, it is a way of life.

A native of the countryside of South Carolina, Molly is an artist practicing in the world of visual communications. In other words, she has an eye for beauty and, more importantly, a mind to capture that beauty and translate it to others who fail to enjoy the pleasure of the experience with her. She uses the camera to grab these moments and record the majesty of the moment, but that’s not all Molly Bond has to offer.

For those of us who appreciate such gifts, Bond has put her skills to work and has found a way to bring those moments to your home. Molly specializes in photography, but she has found an additional talent to present those photographs in a unique fashion that will allow any and all to take those scenes with them and enjoy them anywhere they go.

In addition to her talents as a photographer, Molly has become an expert in the art of making high-quality soaps. All soaps are hand milled in Molly’s home, resulting in an old-fashioned style of soap bar that carries an aromatic-yet-subtle scent and offers the user a creamy, moisturizing feel that is sure to please.

However, it is the art that draws the eye to those soaps. Featuring the discerning images Molly finds intriguing through her life travels, these images are laid into the top of the soap bar, secured through the process of manufacturing the soap. They are protected by a thin layer of sealant and sent to the customer in secured packaging to insure their safe arrival to the customer. The result is a high-quality soap that is both visually stimulating and soothing to the skin.

The images Molly targets are equally impressive. Often drawn to wildlife and country scenes, Molly has a knack for finding picture opportunities and drawing the best from those moments, capturing images that are sure to draw a smile from the observer. Landscapes, beaches, sunsets, flowers, wildlife, trees… any and all of the creatures and habitats you’ll find in everyday life but are often too busy to enjoy. Molly puts those images on soap, serving as a simple reminder in your bathroom or kitchen of a life full of beauty and joy.

Having tested the product, we are happy to report that the feel of soap is as rewarding as promised, and more importantly, the images withstand water and abuse you would associate with normal use. Over time and use, the images will separate from the soap, but this is inevitable. These pictures hold up very well and are sure to please the user for months after purchase.

For a more traditional medium, Molly also offers her photography on customized note cards, perfect for use as gift cards, thank you notes, invitations, or simple home decorations. These are printed on high-quality stock paper and can be customized to fit your needs.

To check out Molly’s work and submit an order, you can visit either www.mollybond.net or http://mbphotography.etsy.com/. Everything you will need to know is there, including all of the pictures Molly has put forth for your consideration. Enjoy.

Would you like a specialty 3 pack of soap or a gift pack of cards? GO to www.mollybond.net and email me at momintheknow at gmail dot com your favorite Molly Bond item or items and enter to win! Winners will be announced by August 31st, 2008.

Uglydoll (reopst in preperation for reopening!)

Hey there, Ugly!

I’ve seen them in the store and I loved them so I had to ask if I could review them. OX was sent to me and it was love at first sight. I had a four pack so my daughters shared one, a friend and a teacher reaped the benefits of OX and UGLYDOLLS. They were a joy to behold. What was it about them? The soft fabric I could cuddle up with? The distinctive little face that artists David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim created? Just think all of them were created out of missing a loved one, you can read their story (a bite-sized version) and shop here. There’s a great "about us" page where you can read all about them!

Okay, where do I begin?

Embracing the ugly factor was easy, as I taught my children to love everything and everyone equally. We have a bulldog as I have mentioned before and she has a face that well only a mother could love some say.

Uglydolls are something that a person either likes or loves. I say that and I don’t think it was just my testers. We gave one to my daughter’s teacher, who keeps it at her desk when she’s not there to watch over the room. My very good friend and new tester, Becky who loves the color green so that was the added bonus for her. My kids share one and then I sleep with one in my bed as he matches my room, yeah that’s why!

Well, what does OX do? Who is he?
What kind of name is OX?
No, not like the animal
OX, as in HUG and KISS!
How can he hug you with such short arms?
OX uses his ears!
He's not a very good listener, but he puts his ears to good use in many other ways!
OX is great at magic, and his best trick is turning your stuff into his stuff.

His best buddy Wedgehead calls that stealing, but OX just wants to borrow things from you for a few hundred years.
He promises to put everything back when he's done. What he wants to steal most are kisses, whether they're in the chocolate variety or just plain, and he promises to be your friend if you would lend him a hand, or an ear...or like Two Dollars!
There’s a story behind each of them, mischievous little guys they are.

Toodee is a curious little buck, just like my kids probably your kids too.

I’m ordering Poe not only is he adorable but his name is Poe (I don’t know if it’s like Edgar Allen who I do quite enjoy) but he loves things a kiddo should love.

That’s one of the great things about these dolls, childlike characters that we as parents can relate to, or the child within can.

You can look local for an UGLYDOLL or shop on-line but get one for you, a friend, a teacher, a neighbor, someone! Go read the stories and see whom you relate to!

Of course this happened ...

I've met one more delay. I emergency oral surgery yesterday. I'm hoping I can do my giveaways next week. 8-8-8 has a tad bit of significance and I'm also tying up lose ends wit more companies who want to give stuff away. So, maybe you won't keep getting as annoyed as I am. Okay it's not like I could have helped the emergency Oral surgery!

If you are contacted my anyone at mom in the know, please email the site from the site address to confirm that it was indeed MITK that contacted you. There is someone out there claiming to me The Mom in the Know or Mom in the Know looking for giveaways, or even just emails that have false claims. We know who it is and this is why she was fired. Please delete, ignore or even fwd to momintheknow@gmail.com.

Let us know and we will try to do something for you.

So sorry, next week we will try not to have any emergencies or drama.

Heather, the (original) Mom in the Know

Who am I?

Well, aside from a mom and a wife, I'm a person who wants the best for all of us. I have two daughters, two dogs, and a husband – all of whom I wanted to be at home for – so I put my talents to use, looking out for my family. Shopping (well, kinda you send me the products!). Surfing the Internet. Meeting new people. Recommending products to friends, after I fall in love with them. And figuring out how to make products better.

Enjoy.
